Welcome to Waggonhill

Waggonhill Farm is a 14 acre smallholding that has been run on organic

principles for the past 12 years. The fields are a haven for wildlife including

roe deer, foxes, red kites and bats. In the summer, clouds of butterflies and

dragonflies flit across the large wildlife ponds and meadows. Wildflowers

such as native primroses, cowslips and violets fill the fields in spring; in

summer, wild orchids and harebells take over. On a summer night, hawk

moths and hunting bats tumble across the landscape

Shy roe deer visit the secluded top meadow, hiding in the shelter of the trees and hedges.

The fields are a tapestry of colour as the wildflowers bloom

Families of foxes can be seen - and heard! - playing in the fields

Fuzzy hawk moths lurk in the foliage, sipping nectar from the many wildflowers

Rabbits bounce across the meadows

Red kites circle the new organic orchard

Weasels hunt in the dry stone walls - and sometimes the cats bring them

inside. A weasel being nursed back to health suddenly got better and

terrorised my study until it was caught and released last year!

Hedgehogs are regular visitors and it is not unusual for us to be brought an

injured hog which can then be found in a cosy box in the studio as it

recovers
